Directed Sound
BENEFITS OF DIRECTED SOUND:
The unique technique of Directed Sound enables you to create and concentrate sound exactly where you want it, without interfering with the surrounding environment.
The difference between directed sound and traditional speakers can be compared to the effect of a light bulb vs. a flashlight. A bulb brightens an entire room where as a flashlight only the part that it is being directed towards.
There are a number of different techniques and solutions when creating sound design in the field of Directed Sound, both audible and visual.
Directed Sound is always projected but depending on the surface it is projected on, the sound experience will vary. This means that when directing the sound towards a hard surface for instance, the sound will appear from that surface. In effect any hard surface can work as a virtual speaker.
One of the other major advantages is the effect known as “sound shower”. A sound shower is so accurately directed that you can have a number of directed sound speakers, each with a respected sound, in close vicinity without them interfering each other.
Currently there are two speaker techniques that are used the field of Directed Sound:
- Plane wave technology
- Ultra sound technology
OTHER SOUND SOLUTIONS:
If Directed Sound is not the solution you are looking for there are several other sound techniques available at Lexer. One of these is the so called ”sound puck”, a very small and discreet speaker. Sound pucks can be built into and/or attached to for example a display window, walls or doors. The surface used will then act as the speaker.
